The heat of summer is almost upon us, depending on where you live you may be sweating through it right now. However, on June 22nd you will have the opportunity to get a classic chill. On that day, you can sit in the spooky darkness of your local theater and watch the newest movie based on a Stephen King short story… “1408”. It has been my pleasure to enjoy many of movies and TV shows adapted from Stephen King’s books and stories. This film looks like it will be a worthy addition to a list of films and TV productions that span 30 years and include “The Shining” (One of my favorite films by my favorite director), “Christine”, “The Langoliers” (a TV miniseries, but still pretty good) , “Children of the Corn”, and “The Stand”. Like “The Shining”, the1408 Movie 1408 Movie is set in a hotel beset with paranormal phenomena. The Dolphin Hotel has a well known, but unspoken secret. John Cusack stars, as horror novelist Mike Enslin, along with Samuel L. Jackson, as the manager of the Dolphin Hotel. Mike Enslin checks into the Dolphin Hotel in hopes of debunking the paranormal myth that death comes to those staying in the haunted hotel room 1408, and hopes to come out with another best seller. Since Mike only believes what he sees for himself, he must stay… the whole night. So, if you appreciate sitting in a nice, cool, dark theater during the heat of summer, and having chills sent running up your spine, you should give the 1408 Movie a try. This movie is rated PG-13.
